Happy New Year! I hope all of you had a relaxing and enjoyable winter break.

As we previously communicated, the 651 and 655 Serra buildings will be vacated in June 2008 to make way for development of the new Graduate School of Business Campus. This facilities planning effort continues to be led by Noel Hirst, Director of Business Affairs Budget & Facilities, and Margaret Dyer-Chamberlain from LBRE Capital Planning working with the Business Affairs senior leadership team. The Controllers Office (other than those groups in Maude), Administrative Systems and Land, Buildings & Real Estate will be moving to Stanford@Porter Drive. In addition, several other Business Affairs groups will be relocating on the main campus, and today I would like to share the plan for these groups with you.

  • The IT Services Computer Resource Consulting (CRC) staff currently in 651 Serra and in Bambi, will move to Encina Hall, lower level.

  • IT Services Software Licensing staff currently in Bambi will move to space in Polya and Redwood that is vacated by Administrative Systems staff moving to Porter Drive.

  • Human Resources will move from 655 Serra to Bambi (Panama St), and Birch, Poplar and Juniper Modulars (Panama St & Campus Dr).

  • The ORA Office of Sponsored Research currently located in 651 Serra will move to Godzilla and a portion of Bambi (Panama St) and to Encina Hall, lower level.

  • Internal Audit currently in 651 Serra and in facilities on Page Mill Road will move to Encina Hall, lower level.

  • Risk Management staff in 651 Serra will move to Encina Modular A.

The facilities planning team has also identified new training facilities to replace the Amy Blue Conference Rooms. Learning and Development will have dedicated use of a training room in the Redwood modular (room G19), and will use Turing Auditorium for new employee orientations. In addition, we are developing a plan to share other training and conference rooms across the Business Affairs organization.

Now that the building assignments are completed, Capital Planning will begin working with your Directors and Managers to develop this plan in more detail, including additional facilities planning requirements and work group location assignments. As with all new facilities projects on and off campus, Business Affairs will be adhering to the space guidelines in these facilities designs.
