Security Infrastructure

The Stanford University Medical Center (SUMC) has installed a door access system on primarily the exterior doors at 3172 Porter Drive.  The School elected to install the same system that is used at SUMC and the rest of the Medical School as opposed to the system that is being deployed by the University at Porter Drive.   If a member of either organization requires access to the other's buildings, a separate access badge will be issued.   If you do not currently hold a Stanford Hospital ID badge (most members of the School of Medicine will have already been given this badge) and you require access through the exterior doors of 3172 Porter Drive, please go to the Hospital Security office in the basement of the hospital and get an ID card.   Security cameras will also be installed at exteriors doors.

Security Suggestion

As is the case with all new buildings, 3172 Porter Drive, will be slightly more vulnerable while construction is continuing and until we are all moved in and security procedures are in place.   For this reason, we would like to encourage people to wear their badge (or at least keep it with you), be aware of who is walking the hallways or using the restrooms -- if you do not know them, feel free to ask them if they are part of the construction team or a Stanford employee, and please keep your suite locked outside of business hours and carry your building access card and key with you.
